Harkin Announces Nearly $3 Million in Funding for Western Iowa Airports
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) announced today that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $2,853,115 to the Sioux County Regional Airport and the Storm Lake Municipal Airport. Harkin is a senior member of the senate Appropriations Committee and the subcommittee that funds the DOT.
“The grants received by these airports show continued support to our state’s aviation programs,” said Senator Harkin. “These investments in our regional airports mean investing in local economic development and job creation.”
Details of the grant below:
Sioux County Regional Airport Agency – $1,908,766 to purchase additional land for the construction of a new airport.
Storm Lake Municipal Airport – $944,349 to acquire land for approaches to enhance approach protection.
