Harkin Announces More Than $760,000 for Iowa Airports
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Tom Harkin (D-IA) today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded a total of $762,208 to the Lamoni Municipal Airport and the Denison Municipal Airport for runway renovations. The funding was made available through the Federal Aviation Administration. Harkin is a senior member of the Senate panel that funds transportation initiatives.
“Our state’s economic recovery is dependent on the investment in our infrastructure,” said Harkin. “This funding will help with the operation and safety of local airports, which could help with the local economy and attract businesses to the area.”
Details of the grant are as follows:
Lamnoi Municipal Airport – $414,000 to acquire land for a runway extension.
Denison Municipal Airport – $348,208 to acquire land for a new cross wind runway.
