U.S. Highway 30 Corridor Project

Description: The purpose of this project is to reconstruct the portion of U.S. Highway 30 from the western city limits through the intersection at U.S. 30 and Iowa 1. The improvements will include converting this corridor from a rural cross-section to a three-lane urban roadway with a dedicated pedestrian trail and storm sewer; providing improved access control at various points in the project area; and constructing intersection improvements at U.S. 30 and 10th Street as well as the intersection at U.S. 30 and Iowa.

Description: Requested funds would be used to finish construction of the 39 mile Wapsi Great Western Line Trail, a bike and pedestrian trail from Elma, IA to the Minnesota state line. The funds would specifically be used for engineering, site preparation, construction, compaction, surfacing, erosion control, signage, bridges, fencing, archeological surveys and culverts. Once completed, the trail will be an interstate asphalt/concrete system for running, walking, and biking and will be groomed and used for cross-country skiing in the winter.
